"We have heard the joyful sound...
Welcome to"Along The Way"-Page 9 of 11.....
These are some of the words of an older Gospel Hymn, which is a favourite of ours...do you
know it?
At our Church in Gloucester, this past Sunday morning,(3rd. September 2000), the Pastor was
continuing his Studies in the Book of Nehemiah, in the Old Testament...
Nehemiah was a Godly and upright in heart Prophet, who walked
closely in obedience to The Lord God.
He had a genuine concern about the ruined state of Jerusalem, and The Temple, and also the
idolatrous condition of God's People.
The King at this time, was named Artaxerxes , and Nehemiah was
one of his trusted advisers, although the King would not have been slow to execute anybody
who crossed him!
With all this in mind, Nehemiah approached the King, hoping the King would grant his request
for leave of absence to go to rebuild Jerusalem.
Much instant silent prayer from the heart was offered to The Lord God, by Nehemiah, when
the King asked what his request was.!
Nehemiah, humbly, and without pretense, told the King.....
We then see how The Lord God over-ruled in the situation, and Nehemiah was granted all the
help and assistance he needed, but not without stiff opposition from enemies...
Amazing!, when you consider that King Aartaxerxes was very much against (or anti.) the people of God.!...(Ref. Nehemiah 2)
Nehemiah could be called an INTERCESSORIn our previous pages, you remember that The Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead, appeared to many people, then ascended to be with The Lord God, His Father...
The Book of Hebrews accurately teaches us about The Risen Lord, and His awesome
position now...
1. He has taken His Place at the right hand of the MAJESTY on high.....
2. He is our Great High Priest, who ever lives to make INTERCESSION for us sinners, to The
Lord God Almighty.......we cannot approach God, except through the Lord Jesus, who pleads
on our behalf.....
3. He is able to do this, because of HIS BLOOD, as the spotless and sinless Lamb of God
sacrificed to purchase our Redemption.....
4. There is no remission of sins without the shedding of Blood....
5. This BLOOD is the basis of THE NEW COVENANT, or NEW TESTAMENT between The Lord God
and all mankind.....
6. THUS He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them...(Ref. Hebrews 7:25)
When we truly Repent, and receive The Lord Jesus, we belong to Him, and are His Sheep, and
receive the gift of The Holy Spirit.
In Nehemiah and Hebrews we see 2 INTERCESSORS between God and
Mankind, each urging Men, Women, and Children to repent of their sins....
Only in The Lord Jesus do we find forgiveness of sins--and He is requiring His People, His
Church to turn away from worldly idols, and obey His Teachings properly--NOT EASY!, but
The Way is Narrow, and few find it.....many follow the Broad path to Destruction!(Ref. Matthew 7:13-14)
